This data tool is offered as a reference that describes the size and scope of Delaware’s tech industry and provides detail on the tech workforce and IT professionals across a range of metrics.

The Tech industry is represented by a variety of industries that range from IT, telecommunications and internet/data hosting services to the manufacturing of computer and electronic components. Tech employment refers to total employment in Tech industries broadly, while occupational employment refers to employment of IT professionals specifically. The map on the right displays the concentration of IT occupational employment by zip code across Delaware and how it has changed over the last five years.

We have selected some peer regions to provide additional context on industry and employment concentration, compared with regions that have similar economic characteristics or that are in geographic proximity to Delaware. Five-year growth forecasts for IT occupations in Delaware show which categories of workers are expected to grow the fastest through 2026, as well as a few that are predicted to decline, based on historical trends. Visualizations of race, gender, and age ratios by occupation and earnings complete the description of the state’s IT workforce.

Views of the employment market over the last 30 days reveal companies that are hiring, occupations that are most in-demand, and the specific job skills most sought-after by employers. STEM major graduates at the state’s leading institutions of higher education provide a glimpse at how the state’s education system is contributing to the talent pool for Delaware’s tech industry. Finally, we offer measures of housing trends and broadband access statewide to assist businesses, economic planners, and employment recruiters as they seek to attract new workers to add to Delaware’s growing Tech industries and workforce.
